Gold Medalist’s Statement
On the same day, Gold Medalist issued an official statement refuting claims that they had demanded financial compensation from Kim Sae-ron. The agency stated, “Our company has never requested Kim Sae-ron to compensate for any damages caused to a project.”
They also denied allegations of coercing her into debt repayment, clarifying that they had worked with her to settle the financial repercussions of her DUI incident. Due to her career difficulties, the company covered the remaining 700 million KRW (approximately 482,000 USD) as a loss in December 2023, a decision recorded in their April 2024 audit report.
Addressing claims that Kim Sae-ron was prohibited from contacting other actors, Gold Medalist explained that the second certified document was intended to ensure legal discussions were handled by authorized representatives, emphasizing that “We have never restricted Kim Sae-ron from contacting fellow actors within the agency.”
Additionally, Gold Medalist stated they had no connection to YouTuber Lee Jin-ho and rejected any involvement in controversies surrounding actress Seo Ye-ji. The agency emphasized, “We urge all parties to cease spreading false information and defaming our actors. If this continues, we will take strong legal action.”
